INTROEDIT

Support

Email hello@recrate.app. A person reads it. It helps to say which version you’re on (it’s in the app’s header) and what you were doing.

Getting IntroEdit

IntroEdit is in a private beta, so there is no public download. Invited testers download it at introedit.com/beta: sign in with the email address your invite was sent to (the first time, use the link there to choose a password), agree to the short beta confidentiality agreement, and download the version for your computer. After that, new versions arrive inside the app — the header shows a button when one is ready, and nothing installs until you press it. Not a tester yet? Request access.

What it runs on

Mac: Apple silicon — M1 or newer — with macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer. Intel Macs aren’t supported: the audio engine is built for Apple’s chips. Not sure which you have? Apple menu → About This Mac: it says “Chip: Apple M…” or “Processor: Intel”. Windows: not in the beta yet — the Windows 10 and 11 version is next, and Request access is how to hear when it’s ready. Allow about 1 GB for the app plus the audio models it downloads the first time.

Mac: installing

Open the .dmg and drag IntroEdit to Applications, then open it from there. The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a security warning — at most macOS asks once whether to open an app downloaded from the internet. If it says IntroEdit can’t be opened because your Mac needs a newer macOS, update to macOS 14 or newer. Run it from Applications, not from inside the .dmg: updates can’t install there.

Windows: “Windows protected your PC” (when the Windows version is out)

The Windows installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns the first time you run it. Click More info, then Run anyway. Updates from inside the app don’t show this.

“Starting engine…” takes a while the first time

The audio engine is large and the first launch is the slowest. The first analysis downloads the beat-detection model (about 80 MB) and the first generate downloads the separation models (a few hundred MB), so they can sit for a minute or two. After that the app works offline.

Your account

I was invited — how do I sign in the first time?

Your account already exists; it just has no password you know. On the sign-in screen choose Invited? Set your password, enter the email address your invite was sent to, and follow the link that arrives (check spam). Then sign in with the password you chose. There is no “create an account” — accounts are made for invited testers only.

I forgot my password

On the sign-in screen choose Forgot your password? and enter your email. If there’s an account for it, a reset link arrives within a minute or two — check spam. The link opens a page on introedit-app.firebaseapp.com; that is ours.

Do I need to be online?

Only to sign in the first time on a computer. After that IntroEdit keeps you signed in and works offline.

Deleting my account

Open account in the app’s header, choose Delete account and confirm with your password. It is immediate and can’t be undone. Your music and saved edits are untouched.

The edit isn’t right

The bar lines aren’t on the kick

Zoom in on the waveform, click exactly on the kick, and press Set 1 here (or the 1 key). The whole grid slides so the nearest bar line sits there. If the 1 is on the wrong beat altogether, use −1 / +1 beat or Tap the 1. Turn the click on (C) to check by ear.

I can’t drag the drop where I want it

The drop always lands on a bar line — that is what keeps the intro and the record in phase. If the bar line isn’t where you hear the 1, it’s the grid that’s off: fix it with Set 1 here and the drop moves with it.

The intro sounds thin or muffled

That happens when the looped bars have singing on them: removing the vocal takes some of the hi-hats with it. Pick different bars on the bar strip — it marks where the singing is — or try the drums + bass loop.

The tempo is half or double

Use ÷2 or ×2. 70 versus 140 is your call, not the detector’s.

When something breaks

The app keeps two log files that help us a lot. Attach them to your email:

  • backend.log — the audio engine
  • updater.log — updates

On a Mac they are in ~/Library/Logs/intro-edit: in Finder choose Go → Go to Folder… and paste that in. On Windows they are in %APPDATA%\intro-edit\logs: paste that into the File Explorer address bar.

The logs can contain file names from your library — they stay on your computer unless you send them to us.

Privacy

Crash reports are switched off under privacy in the app’s header. What they contain — and what they never do — is on the privacy page.

Uninstalling

On a Mac: quit IntroEdit and drag it from Applications to the Trash. Your settings and the downloaded models stay in ~/Library/Application Support/intro-edit; delete that folder to remove them too.

On Windows: Settings → Apps → IntroEdit → Uninstall. Your settings and the downloaded models stay in %APPDATA%\intro-edit; delete that folder to remove them too.

Either way, your music and your saved edits are never touched.
